Mid-Term Report Update on Future-Oriented Infrastructure

Over the past two years, the Public Works Department began an extensive program to clean drainage ditches and replace undersized culverts and began purchasing and installing back up generators for pumping stations to ensure the pumps can remain operable during storms. Construction also began on the new water treatment plant at the New Sarpy site, which will provide 6 million gallons a day capacity for the East Bank. In addition, the Waterworks Department completed the unprecedented installation of two under-river water lines which allow the East and West Banks to divert and share water as needed. Three canal bridges along Primrose Drive were replaced to improve water flow in this area of Luling. The parish also began collecting GPS data of the parish's drainage network, which will provide an updated mapping of water flow through the system and help identify flood-prone areas. For complete updates on all the parish goals, get a copy of the Mid-Term Report now available at the library, by mail request or online at www.stcharlesparish-la.gov
