just demo-ing the sustainiac pickup from the jackson dk2s. sustainiac.com has a lot of good information, go here first for questions. basically, the neck pickup, which still works as a passive pickup, is equipped with an electromagnetic driver (powered by a 9v battery). when turned on, the bridge pickup is automatically selected, and the signal received by it is then processed and put out by the sustainiac pickup as electromagnetic waves at the same frequency at which the string is ringing. what happens when you hit something at its resonant frequency? it vibrates. unlimited sustain (or as long as your 9v battery can last, at least). a flip of the second switch gives you harmonic or mix mode, which makes use of octaves to give you harmonic sounds or what is basically controlled amp feedback. fun stuff. anyone thinking about purchasing the dk2s or equipping their current guitar with a sustainiac pickup or something similar like a fernandes, contact me, ill explain the pros and cons as best as i can.
