Dr. Diane M. Hoss, MD discusses Dissecting Cellulites Treatment. See more at www.dermnet.com PLEASE RATE AND COMMENT!!! Dissecting cellulitis is difficult to treat. Initial treatment is often with antibiotics directed against Staphylococcus species which are sometimes cultured from the drainage. Combination therapy with rifampin and cephalexin has been beneficial in anecdotal cases. Systemic corticosteroids can be used to calm down a marked inflammatory flare of the condition. Patients are often referred to surgery for drainage of inflammatory nodules and removal of fibrotic tissue. Isotretinoin and dapsone have been reported to be beneficial for some patients with the disease. I have one patient who responded well to dapsone. X-ray epilation and laser hair removal have also been reported to be beneficial in some patients.
